James Parker

As founder, sculptor and creative director, I conceive, design and make every sculpture.

I work closely with every client, from enquiry through to installation, guiding them through the process of selecting a sculpture that feels right in both character and scale.

Slate and Glass

I create works in slate and glass, from start to finish, in my workshop in the East Neuk of Fife, remaining hands-on throughout the entire process.

In the UK I will typically install these works, ensuring that placement, scale and orientation are resolved on site with sensitivity to the surrounding landscape or architecture. For projects overseas, installation may be undertaken by myself or, where appropriate, by trusted third parties working to detailed instructions and guidance. This applies to all work in my portfolio, in all materials.

Bronze and Stainless Steel

In the case of bronze and stainless steel work, I develop the original sculpture through a wide variety of considered processes, refinements, iterations and modelling media to ensure the piece is balanced in proportion and character. After which, trusted specialist foundries and fabricators are engaged to realise editions.

By using this approach, it allows me to remain focused on the creative development of new work, whilst ensuring that each piece is produced with the highest level of technical expertise. Authorship, form and finish remain under my direct control throughout.

Over many years, strong working relationships have been built with a small number of highly regarded bronze foundries, specialist fabricators, landscape architects, garden designers, architects, art consultants and curators, as well as other professionals working within the built and natural environment.

These collaborators act as an extension of the way the work is realised, sharing the same standards, care and attention to detail. This network allows ambitious projects of significant scale and complexity to be undertaken, whilst ensuring that every work remains true to its original intent.

With more than 25 years’ experience in marketing, she brings a calm, structured and professional approach to client engagement, liaison and project management. Her involvement provides continuity and reassurance, particularly for bespoke commissions and projects involving multiple stakeholders.
